Star Breeze

Star Breeze

Serving just 312 guests, Star Breeze is the perfect size — small enough to offer unique experiences that set Windstar apart from other cruise lines (think complimentary feast under the stars on a small private motu in Bora Bora), yet large enough for you to make plenty of new connections on board — all without ever feeling crowded.

This intimate all-suite yacht features spacious ocean-view accommodations, each with a walk-in closet and updated double-vanity bathroom. On board, you’ll find a fully equipped fitness center, a spa with complimentary sauna, an infinity pool, two full-service bars, on-deck hot tubs, a water-access marina platform, and so much more.

And did we mention all dining is included? From gourmet bites at our Yacht Club Café to 24-hour room service and even specialty restaurants like Basil + Bamboo, Windstar’s award-winning cuisine is always complimentary — so you can indulge freely and enjoy every moment of your journey.

Ready to experience Star Breeze for yourself? She’s located just 8 hours from LAX in beautiful Tahiti, where she sails year-round with voyages departing almost every week. We can’t wait to welcome you aboard!

Ship Reviews

I cruised French Polynesia on the Star Breeze for two weeks in late January. The biggest plus of the cruise is the service everywhere on the ship. It’s a bit trite to say but you can’t turn around without a smiling staff member, who knows your name by the second day, waiting to wait on you. The smiles aren’t fake, the crew genuinely enjoy their work. Food in all the venues, with the exception of Veranda is very good to excellent. Breakfast and lunch there is like eating at a Sheraton buffet – nothing wrong but nothing great. I don’t drink hard liquor but the choice seemed to be extensive. Beer and wine choices and quality were very good. While wifi was glitchy a couple of times, I was pleasantly surprised by how good it was in the middle of the South Pacific. Excursions through Windstar were on the pricey side but enjoyable. You should note that most of the excursions are water oriented with a few land tours as most of the stops are small islands with very small towns. All the stops are tender ports other than the start and finish in Papeete. Entertainment is the weakest aspect of the cruise. If you are looking for Broadway or West End productions they are few thousand miles away. There’s a four member band and two “Polynesian Ambassadors” that occasionally sing. The band did have a pretty large repertoire. There weren’t any kids on board, possibly because it was a two week cruise with school in session. The great majority of passengers were couples (260 people, 13 solo). Ages ranged from a few couples in their thirties and forties with the rest spread from fifties to seventies. Windstar isn’t cheap (especially given that you have to get to French Polynesia) but to my mind the cruise was very worth the cost. I’ve sailed NCL and HAL and Windstar is a step above (three or four steps above NCL) or as its PR people say “180 degrees from ordinary.”

Loved the size of the ship and the ratio of staff to passengers. The cabins were extremely clean, comfortable and the size of the bathrooms was surprising. They were as big as a normal bathroom. Crew were amazing in every department, whether in the restaurants, cabins, reception, excursions, security. Quality and choice of food was excellent. Each day a different 'themed' menu in the Verandah. The specialty restaurants Basil and Bamboo and Candles served amazing food. We went twice! Entertainment was great. Each night different genre of music played by The Queen of Aces and Entertainment director Crizy. With the crew joining in for special events nights. Interesting special guest speakers. We learnt so much about the culture of the Polynesians. We also learnt from the two onboard Polynesian Ambassadors varies crafts, dancing and ukelele playing. It was not only fun but interesting. Used the Spa. The crew there were lovely.

Our first time cruising with Windstar and it was very impressive. Was shocked the captain actually greeted all passengers one by one getting on board. Food was delicious. I had a huge problem however with no air conditioning in many parts of the ship, dining was very uncomfortable, the shows we had to leave as it was to hot. Our room was boiling but we did ask for a fan and was given one which helped a lot. They knew the air was broken and I feel some fans in the crowed areas would have helped a lot but we were just given a sorry to bad kinda answer. For the money you pay for these cruises more should have been done. We did book for another cruise as we had a great time let’s hope we get some air on the next one. The staff was amazing at the Star Bar

We have just completed our cruise around Tahiti. From the time we embarked to disembarkation our expectations were exceeded in every way. I’ve read a very grumpy review on this site for the Windstar Breeze, and our experience was very different. The difference from having a great cruise, to having a fantastic cruise was the staff. They made a huge difference. By the end of the tour we were greeted by name by many staff. Our suite was the largest we have had. At least as big as the Silver seas offerings. Meals were delicious and beautifully presented. The Amphora Restaurant menus changed each night. Our friends were blown away by the choices of fish dishes - and even snails (yuk!). Many of the off ship experiences had been sold out prior to embarkation, so it would pay to book and pay before getting on, though refunds are swift if you cancel within a stated time frame. We have experienced sea going hospitality in the past. And as mentioned the staff are this ships biggest asset. On our trip there were 280 guests and 200 staff. We have booked our next Windstar Breeze trip for next year.

Entertainment

A day on board your Windstar ship is a day of choices, all of them good. Perhaps you’ll begin with a relaxing massage in World Spa by Windstar. Or maybe an invigorating workout in the Fitness Center. Even better, why not both? After a sumptuous lunch in Veranda, make a splash from the Watersports Platform off the ship’s stern. Everything you can think of for fun in the water is there — swimming, kayaking, sail-boarding, even water skiing. And it’s all complimentary, of course. Sun yourself on deck, take a dip in the whirlpool, then catch up on email ororder a cheese plate for your stateroom or suite. After dinner, dance to live music in the Lounge. This is your yacht, so of course you’re welcome on the Bridge, where the Captain and officers are delighted to share charts, routes, and vistas with you.

As you prepare for another amazing Windstar day, enjoy a nightcap anywhere you like — on deck, in the Lounge, or why not let us bring it to your suite or stateroom? Your day ends just as it began, blissfully.
