Ship Reviews

The cruise around the Chilean Fjords was beautiful, exciting and adventurous. Everyday brought a new excursion experience either kayaking or on the Zodiac inflatables. The Patagonian Fjord scenery is a must see experience. The expedition team were knowledgable and confident and helped to make all the experiences very enjoyable. The SH Vega is a luxurious ship capable of carrying 150 passengers. On our trip we had 77 passengers from all over the world, who very quickly found that they had similar interests, which meant that by the end of the cruise you had chatted to everyone. The crew keep the ship spotless during the voyage and there are always snacks available. The quality of the food was first class and the service in the restaurant was excellent. One night the Captain joined our table of 14 for dinner , which was a special treat. Every night the guest sommelier introduced the Chilean wines of the day, which could be sampled at Dinner. Don't miss this bucket list experience!

From the meeting at the airport through transfers to Ushuaia, boarding ,cabin service expeditions ,lectures, food ,cabin, crew and staff I couldn’t fault it.Exactly as hoped for and more.Dont expect a set itinerary as it weather & sea dependent, but the Captain & the Expedition crew ensured that the best options were pursued and it all worked extremely well. The purpose built ship was quiet ,handled a rough Drakes passage admirably, the multiple electric props allowed Vega to manoeuvre in tight spaces ,hold position & sidle up to wildlife. We will be going again an would choose Vega or her sister ship with just 150 passengers. My only mild criticism is that the SPA we thought was expensive and would have more takers if more reasonable. The expeditions were generally 2 per day with lectures by the expedition staff and daily briefings once the following days schedule was sorted, then it was time for the good quality generous included drinks before an excellent al La Carte dinner in the evening accompanied by very nice wine

This was a perfect Antarctic journey. The entire crew of SH Vega provided my wife and me with an exceptional travel experience. From the expert coordination of the expedition team and the meticulous housekeeping to the exquisite onboard dining and the dedication of every crew member—including the seamless ground handling—we received top-tier service in every aspect. I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to the entire staff. A perfect journey requires the collective effort of everyone involved, and this team truly achieved it. If I may offer one small suggestion: on the cabin TV information system, in addition to introducing the Captain, senior officers, and expedition team, it would be wonderful to include profiles of the restaurant service staff. We interact with these hard-working individuals every day, but sometimes it’s difficult to catch their names or read their name tags. Having their introductions on the TV would allow us to better recognize and appreciate their hard work.

A stunning cruise through one of the most beautiful and wild places in the world. We saw a huge number of whales, some orcas, and were treated to a surprising colony of emperor penguins. We sailed through seas full of icebergs and lots of ice floes. All this in a sophisticated setting with great food and excellent drinks. Comfortable cabins. The only discomfort is navigating the Darke Strait, where the sea is always rough. It's about thirty hours of sailing, both going and returning, but for what you see on the peninsula and in the Weddell Sea, it's definitely worth it. On nice, windless days, the heated outdoor pool is a great option; sipping champagne surrounded by ice is a fantastic experience. Also, on nice days with calm seas, a delicious cheeseburger or a tasty pizza is served for lunch. The cruise price is a bit high, but those who go don't regret it.

Absolutely exceeded expectations. Amazing ship, top quality service and outstanding expedition team that ensure you get to see and experience the best opportunities. Highly recommend this cruise line and this itinerary. The Weddell sea was incredible. Every day you get detailed briefings on what to expect for the next day, highly informative talks. The ship and team don’t hesitate to share anything they see even when you are cruising between landing stops, including whales, icebergs, penguins. The ship even stops so you can truly take in all the sights. The landings are incredible experiences and highly managed to ensure protection of the wildlife and passengers. The scenery and experiences on land are almost impossible to describe, overwhelming extraordinary. The whole team do the most incredible work to bring you the best. The service on the ship is also incredible. Big shout out to Ian and Rona at the bar, two incredibly amazing people doing a magnificent job.
