We have just returned from our first cruise with Regent Seven Seas and absolutely loved it. RSS Mariner had just been refurbished so there were a few issues initially but they were quickly resolved. The food and service were absolutely excellent and I liked the fact that all the restaurants were available to everyone without extra charges. On sea days (a trans Atlantic crossing so there were quite a few) the two lecturers were extremely interesting and talked on a variety of subjects. I love to play bridge so appreciated that there was a bridge instructor on board for morning and afternoon sessions on sea days. We stopped in Malaga, Madeira and 2 nights in Bermuda and we were pleased with the inclusive tours . Afternoon tea was a naughty extra with different cakes every day . Every member of staff smiled and made you feel very welcome. Nothing was too much trouble for them. We will definitely cruise with Regent Seven Seas again
The Mariner came out of drydock at the beginning of this cruise. It is an older Regent ship and it probably could have used a few more days before setting sail. There were may contractors on board trouble shooting all kinds of issues - phones that didn't work, A/C that didn't work, wifi that didn't work, tv's that didn't work, computer systems that weren't working properly (e.g. the spa computer kept messing up appointments, etc.), our closet collapsed, etc. The food was good but not great the first few days but improved steadily throughout the cruise. There was a lack of instruction as well - for example, we could not hear announcements in our cabin - it took to day four for us to realize we could tune in the announcements on our tv. There was a framed piece of art in our cabin that didn't get hung until day five. That said - the crew onboard was fantastic - extremely helpful and worked diligently to not only meet but exceed expectations. Everyone we spoke to did agree that the beds were extremely comfortable and the bedding was very comfortable as well. The included shore tours were quite good and made us feel like a good value for the price. We were only able to eat in Prime 7 once near the beginning of the cruise and we were not impressed. Chartreuse got better throughout the cruise as the the Compass Rose. The Sette Mari is a hidden gem and no reservations required. The grilled ham and cheese from room service is an A+++! We don't believe the cruise was sold out - the ship never felt crowded.
This was our first Regent experience, and it was outstanding! The food in all the venues was excellent, and they very quickly knew our names. The crew was simply amazing. So attentive and friendly. Our butler could not do enough and was almost offended that we didn't want to order room service breakfast every day. :) We loved the entertainment crew and shows, and especially enjoyed the duo from Argentina who performed nightly. The cabins are larger than the norm on large ships and nicely appointed. The excursions were very organized, and most of the time we left before the scheduled departure time--which is very rare in my experience. The excursions were interesting and informative. Cruising on a ship with less than 800 passengers is a true pleasure. No issues with lineups except for tenders--which is unavoidable. The ship is going in for refurbishment next month, but for the most part, she was still beautiful. It was so nice to cruise all-inclusively for 12 nights and not have a bill at the end.
