We really enjoyed our cruise in Japan . The ship is a bit older so it shows in certain areas, cabin washrooms in particular. Overall, it was very positive experience. The staff were wonderful throughout. We only ate at the complimentary dining . Most of our dinners were excellent with more than enough choice, one or two meals were just ok. Entertainment in the main theatre was really quite good except for maybe 2 shows. The house band , Mockingbird played the standard classics people wanted to hear or dance to. Other musical performers were ok , Classical and jazz musicians were quite good , the others not so much. This is a busy agenda , 8 ports of call so lots to see and do with minimal sea days. While most the ports were worth seeing , Tokushima has very limited options for tourists, and is hard to get to from the port despite a free shuttle service by the local community. ( Princess does not offer a shuttle but rather a Tour on your own bus for $130 US , definitely not worth it. )
We travelled as a family group of ten on the Diamond Princess over Christmas and New Year, all in balcony staterooms, and the experience was excellent from start to finish. Staterooms: All of our balcony cabins were clean, comfortable, and well maintained. Although the ship is older, it is immaculately cared for, with public areas and cabins kept in great condition. Dining: The food throughout the ship was fantastic — plenty of variety, consistently high quality, and something for everyone. Across two weeks, no one in our group had a single complaint. Onboard Experience: The pools were clean and well managed, even during a peak holiday sailing. Entertainment was another standout, with several shows approaching Broadway‑level production quality. Itinerary: The Southeast Asia route was superb: Singapore, Vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand, and Malaysia offered a great mix of culture, scenery, and history. Port days were well organised and ran smoothly. Crew & Service: The staff and crew were brilliant — friendly, professional, and genuinely invested in making the trip special. Service was faultless across the entire sailing. Princess Plus: We also recommend the Princess Plus package. It effectively turns the trip into an all‑inclusive experience and removes any worry about bill shock at the end. For us, it made the holiday feel even more relaxed. Future Bookings: A good indication of how much we enjoyed the cruise: several of us booked future Princess sailings while still on board. Overall: A fantastic holiday and one of the smoothest cruises we’ve taken. Highly recommended for families or groups looking for a well‑run Southeast Asia itinerary with great food, entertainment, and service.

Passengers ages 3 to 17 will enjoy many exciting on-board activities. The Youth Centres and Teen Lounges are staffed by experienced counsellors, who are ready to ensure the youngest cruisers stay happy all day long. There’s everything from art projects, game tables, the latest movies, pizza parties, talent shows, video games, and much more.
Children under the age of 3 are welcome to visit the Youth Centre, if accompanied and supervised by a parent at all times.
