We love this class of ships so much!! We are platinum with NCL & we spend our winter cruising. The whiskey & Martini bars are the best!! The food at the specialty restaurants was outstanding & the service was impeccable! Norwegian is one of our favorite lines ro cruise with & they really strive to be the best. We always have a great experience with customer service, bartenders & food service every time we cruise. I actually get tears on my la a tday because I feel like I have met amazing people that feel like family. Between all the amazing cruisers & amazing staff, I wanna stay longer every time I cruise with them! I hope Norwegian continues to be a step above all others so that I can get the the top status with their latitudes rewards program!! Some really great benefits are offered & I cant wait to keep cruising!!
We had another great cruise on a Jewel-Class ship! We prefer the smaller ships. It's very important to do your research and be honest with yourself about needs and wants. For us, this trip had a perfect mix of sea days and port days! The Cabin: our balcony cabin was fine. I think our Steward was new, but any little issues were taken care of. Be warned, the bathrooms are tight in the balcony cabins. Specifically, the area stings the toilet. We aren't tall, but if you are, it'll be a challenge The Food: we had no complaints. The nightly crepes were a highlight, but you might have to ask for certain toppings. They have a few, but are willing to get others when asked. For the first time, we took a couple of private excursions. I'm so glad we did! They were the highlight of the trip at a fraction of the cost of ship-endorsed excursions. You definitely need to spend time reading and comparing reviews, but is so worth it! One was in Cartagena, Colombia. We had the best day in Cartagena! There was supposed to be another couple on our tour, but they canceled. So... we got a private tour! We had a driver and Josette, our guide all to ourselves! We met Dora while seeing the wall. She told us she doesn't cancel tours when they end up only having a couple of people. I had a total knee replacement just 11 weeks before and was worried that I wouldn't be able to see everything. Prior to the trip, Dora and I discussed my concerns. Dora was great about calming my fears. During the tour, we never had any concerns about safety. The vendors offered their goods, but were respectful once we said no. It might have been due to Josette, who has done tours for so many years. She seemed to know everyone. We were exhausted by the time we got back to the ship, but so pleased with the value of our tour. I highly recommend tours with Dora's group! Everyone on her team was warm, friendly and caring! The other was in Puerto Limon, Costa Rica with Relax Day Tours. I had also communicated with them through emails about my knee replacement. They treated me like a queen, from making sure I had the best seat on the mini-bus for me, to checking on how I was feeling often. Larry was our guide and we feel blessed to have spent the day with him! He was informative and so entertaining. We learned so much about this beautiful country, saw so many animals and laughed so much! We'll never forget that day! Hopefully, we find other private tours that live up to what we experienced with Josette at Dora's and Larry at Relax Day Tours!
