Had a wonderful cruise on Apex to the Norweigian Fjords. We have sailed Celebrity before but not on an Edge class ship. Staff were great and the ship was great although it took a bit of time to orientate ourselves. Theatre shows were amazing - best we have seen thanks to the superb technology in the theatre. Food was great - there really is something for everyone. Enjoyed being able to use any of the 4 main dining restaurants Only negatives for us - the smoking areas were in some lovely areas of the ship - which effectively meant we could not go into those areas as we do not like the smoke smell - this sometimes drifted into the non-smoking areas as well. Drinks were not particularly strong and there seemed to be less options available on the classic package than what we have had on previous celebrity cruises and the tender process took too long (but this seems to be the case on most cruise lines)
Sailed out of Southampton on a Norway Fjord cruise on Apex and it was one of the best cruises ever. Embarkation was no problem, scanned passport, boarding pass and it was on the ship we go. I noticed while walking around the ship was very easy to navigate and there was no bottlenecks. Cabin - Wasn't sure I was going to like the Infinite balcony as I really like the traditional balcony, was I wrong. Infinite balcony was great, got to look out without sitting outside where it was brisk and chilly as was expected on the North Sea. Lowered the window for a little fresh air and it was great. It also made the cabin feel bigger. Activities- The usual cruise ship activities on board, however they did have a few different games that were interesting. Entertainment- The Rockumentary show was very good as was Adam Berry and Tabitha. I wish their shows were a little longer. Apex also had other shows consisting of acrobats and aerialists which I'm really not interested in. Dining- We ate in all 4 main dining rooms and the food was excellent. Our dinner was served in a timely fashion and it was a very enjoyable dining experience. The buffet was also very good as they had a nice variety of food there. The best thing about it was if you ordered an omelet or fish, chicken or another protein they cooked it up fresh for you and gave you a beeper to let you know when it was done. Disembarkation- No problem, walked right off got on the bus to Heathrow and made the flight in plenty of time. Very stress free. In closing this is a wonderful ship and I can't wait to sail on it again next spring in the Caribbean. Don't be afraid to try the Infinite balcony.
Everything onboard was great, but the pre-planning this time was terrible! RCA no longer lets you have travel advisor(their employee who sold the cruise) so when you call customer service you're in the cue for up to 3 hrs. And "we'll call you back" works < 50% of the time. Even after final payment, Retreat phone # folks only had same access about excursions as customer have (Celebrity website). Told to "wait till you're onboard" gets better info & ability to cancel if too strenuous but then better excursions sold out! Seeing the full solar eclipse was A+ Missing the cathedral in Barcelona 2* to husband's need for wheel chair very disappointing. On port days, when we mostly were onboard, Luminae & all 4 dinning rooms closed at lunch - we ended up eating lunch almost always at Craft Social, where our suites beverage package covered all the beer, wine, cocktails but we had to pay oop for food. Seems unfair considering suite-only Luminae was closed! Food was great, but only other choice was the buffet line- hard with a wheelchair.
First time on celebrity and was very impressed. First the negatives not enough seating in ocean mist cafe (buffet area) on sea days almost impossible to find seats. Many people just sitting and reading at tables or playing games. Unlike other cruise lines I’ve been on they never asked people not eating to leave at prime times. They also didn’t have first and second seating at dinner time so you had different waiters every night which meant explaining everything every night. Although some people had reserved tables not sure how.The activity staff was more geared to older guests and I was 70 and bored on sea days. Several of the lounges seating very uncomfortable and needing repair Now the positives. The beds were very comfortable. The ports beautiful. Somewhat disorganized on getting to shore excursions but not every one. The highlight was the crew. They went out of their way to make you happy and comfortable. The embarkation and disembarkation process was quite smooth and fast. I like how celebrity lets you drop your carry on bag in your cabin when you board and get your sea pass. We had a balcony the infinity kind which was nice as it made the room feel larger and seeing we were beyond the arctic circle we enjoyed sitting and looking out and were nice and warm.
This is the 2nd time on this ship and we feel we enjoyed it more this time. I do feel it hasn’t got the ‘wow’ factor that other ships we’ve been on have.(sky Princess), especially the atrium which is part of the martini bar. It’s small in size and can’t accommodate all the people that want to sit there It has no outside windows so does feel dark and enclosed. The nearby coffee lounge is pleasant but, again, not enough seating for the amount of people who enjoy the space, often just staying there to read or chat and and not freeing up the chairs for people that want a drink. The service was very good. I think the decor in some of the areas have very muted colours which makes it look duller than other ships. The club where the quizzes and some music shows is also an inside room, very dark and dim, though we did enjoy the daily quiz there. Loved the indoor pool area but again not enough loungers and people reserving them for longer than they should. We didn’t use the outside pool as the music was too loud, monotonous and not to our taste. We thought the buffet food was very good but chaotic and very busy and always had trouble finding seats. The main restaurants were good and the food was mainly enjoyable. The service was good. All the staff were very pleasant, professional and friendly. I have scored it very good as there is not an option for just good, it is better than average. We would go on this ship again and perhaps explore more options. This is our 10th cruise and 4th the celebrity. The only issue with this particular cruise is we didn’t have enough time in ports and had to be back on ship by about 2pm on 3 stops so not enough time to fully explore.

Kids and Teen Programs
The fun starts at Camp At Sea, our onboard entertainment centre and program designed exclusively for kids ages 3 to 12. Open every day from 9:00am - 10:00pm, Camp at Sea offers kids the opportunity to participate in a number of entertaining activities, including treasure hunts, arts and crafts, sports, and theme parties, all under the supervision of our experienced youth staff. For our teen cruisers, the Teen Club is the place to be. At the Teen Club, they can make new friends and participate in events like video game competitions, teen parties, and culinary classes. Activities are overseen by our team of teen counsellors and offered throughout the day, allowing teens to come and go as they please.
