Top notch service , staff was amazing , food was fresh and incredible, immaculate ship , nice ports. Stand out personnel - Rhine , Tan, Subrata, Saroj and Marcelo . All of the staff was efficient and very professional but the people I have listed stood out . Marcelo was doing the work of 2 people !! His counterpart was basically useless to him . I am basing this on many observations to include the partnership that I witnessed on my last cruise . He is a gem !!! One thing I might add is that the Viking cruises seem to have better docks . We seem to land at further out spots that required us to take a bus and it would’ve been a better experience if we could’ve docked closer to small villages.. Your ships are well oiled machines and I recommend you to all my friends ! It is obvious that much thought goes in to everything !
My last AMA cruise was in 2019. I remembered it so well. I wanted to see if this cruise would live up to my memories. It did. Maybe exceeded it. We received an upgrade from Layla at Vacations to go. Our room had a sliding glass door. My previous 3 cruises on AMA were on the lower level (still a comfortable room). The bathroom is a comfortable size with a great shower!! The food on AMA has always been outstanding. You have so many options. The wine selection is great. I found two new favorites. Be sure you dine at the chef’s table. It was fun to watch the prep and of course the food parings are devine. Best soup I ever had! The sip and sale is fun. There is a cocktail of the day and music. Met new friends who became dinner partners. The excursions are included in the cruise price. They are local guides so you get good insider tips. Every morning I grabbed my heated cup and had a couple of lattes. Coffee is available 24 hours. The only thing I missed was the local performers. On previous cruises there would be a local group from the area. I really enjoyed that. AMA is simply the best. It is the first cruise line I recommend. I talked to people who have been on other river cruise lines and they said AMA is the best
The service was extra special! The staff truly wanted you to have the time of your life, and they succeeded! The food was delicious, every meal! Every day was planned out meticulously, everything needed was provided, and then some! I can't say enough about henrique bastos, our cruise manager. He was "johnny on the spot" every day, in all ways! He was ever present, updating, helping, explaining, working morning, day, and night to ensure that we had a perfect trip! He did it!!! Kudos to henrique! When i think of him i see the epitome of ama! He is a treasure to behold, never tiring, always available, always with a great personality! Nicky was fun and attentive in the lounge. The asian staff in the restaurant were great to see every day. Always cracking jokes and laughing. You need to staff the pool bar. All the bottles are sitting there, but no bartender.
We had a full balcony BB level room. It was very pretty and well designed so that there was enough room for belongings. (We put our empty suitcases under the bed). If you've stayed in New York City hotels, you'll be familiar with the efficient, no space wasted design. The staff were superb. We also stayed two days pre-cruise as part of our package. For that, we were in the Dam square area at the posh Grand hotel Krasnspolsky where we also found the staff to be extremely helpful and gracious. The food on board was consistently excellent, with minor missteps (a wellness bowl of chocolate pudding and fruit seemed a bit rich for our breakfast but was tasty). The chef's dinner was superlative, and perfectly plated. Excursions were well done and local guides were interesting and informative. We lucked out and got sunshine for our entire cruise but complimentary umbrellas were available in our rooms if the weather failed.
